London, GB., June 20th, 2022 — Ethernet Servers Ltd, a leading web hosting & managed service provider (MSP) has today announced the addition of Ubuntu 22.04 to its list of supported Linux distributions for all new and existing VPS customers!

The release, playfully named "Jammy Jellyfish", includes 5 years of hardware and maintenance updates, with a further 5 years available under the Extended Security Maintenance (ESM) program.

As the newest release, this becomes our recommended version for anyone wishing to run Ubuntu.

This announcement serves as an ideal time to relay another message: we suggest anyone running a Linux distribution that is not listed below update as soon as possible:

  • AlmaLinux 8 64-bit
  • AlmaLinux 9 64-bit
  • Rocky Linux 8 64-bit
  • Debian 11 64-bit
  • Debian 12 64-bit
  • Ubuntu 20.04 64-bit
  • Ubuntu 22.04 64-bit
  • Ubuntu 24.04 64-bit

Other distributions, such as CentOS 6, Debian 9, Ubuntu 16.04, etc. are end-of-life and do not receive security updates, putting the integrity of any data at greater risk of being compromised.

Ethernet Servers customers can find instructions on reinstalling their VPS over here, but as always, we're standing by ready to help via our ticket system as well.
