openSUSE VPS Templates: Leap 16 and Tumbleweed Now Available
Our openSUSE VPS templates now include openSUSE Leap 16 and openSUSE Tumbleweed. Following a customer request on 21/03/2026, we added both operating systems to our KVM VPS platform. As of 22/03/2026, both templates are live and ready to deploy from our VirtFusion control panel.
Why We Added openSUSE VPS Templates
The request came from a customer who wanted more flexibility when deploying their VPS. They described Leap 16 as an excellent choice for long-term stability. They also highlighted Tumbleweed as a strong option for developers who want a dependable rolling release.
As a result, we moved quickly to make both templates available across our KVM VPS platform.
Deploy openSUSE VPS Templates in VirtFusion
Both openSUSE VPS templates can be installed directly from our VirtFusion control panel. The process is simple and fast. In addition, users can choose the login method that suits them best.
You can deploy your server with password authentication enabled by default. Alternatively, for improved security, you can upload your own SSH key and disable password authentication completely.
openSUSE Leap 16 Security and Support
Security remains a top priority. Therefore, openSUSE Leap 16 is a strong choice for users who want a stable platform with ongoing maintenance. At the time of writing, Leap 16 receives security updates until 31 October 2027.
It is a practical option for production workloads, business use, and anyone who values consistency over frequent change.
openSUSE Tumbleweed for Developers and Power Users
By contrast, openSUSE Tumbleweed is designed for users who want the latest software updates on a rolling basis. It has no fixed end-of-life date at this time. Instead, it is continuously updated.
Because of that, Tumbleweed is well suited to developers, advanced users, and anyone who wants newer packages, features, and hardware support.
Choose Between Our openSUSE VPS Templates
At the time of writing, openSUSE Leap 16 uses the Linux 6.12 kernel. Meanwhile, openSUSE Tumbleweed uses Linux 6.19.
This gives customers a clear choice. Leap 16 focuses on stability and predictability. Tumbleweed, on the other hand, gives access to newer software and a faster-moving release cycle.
