Rocky Linux is one of the newer flavours of Linux, with its initial release just four years ago, back in 2021. Based on RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), it has quickly become a fan favourite. It's open-source, free, packed with features, and, importantly, has a lot of different support options, including a forum, IRC, and a mailing list - giving a level of assurance to its users that they aren't alone, and can get support for their questions and problems.
On June 11th 2025, they announced that Rocky Linux 10.0 was released, bringing with it a host of changes, including updates to the installer, architecture support, and, as you'd expect, newer versions of the software in the default repositories. Rocky Linux 9.0, for example, came with PHP 8.0 (now end of life), whereas 10.0 comes with PHP 8.3.
A credible characteristic of Rocky Linux is its extensive support period, namely, ten years! If you set up a Rocky Linux 10 server today, you're guaranteed free security updates until 2035, eclipsing other Linux flavours such as Ubuntu LTS, which only includes five years' worth of free support.
If you'd like to get started with a Rocky Linux 10 VPS that's powered by KVM and VirtFusion, look no further - it's now available on our platform for all customers!
